Amy Gerstein CV

Amy has served as the Gardner Center’s Executive Director since 2009. In this capacity, she provides strategic direction to the center, critical leadership to Stanford’s community engaged research efforts more broadly, and expertise in capacity-building research that informs the center’s diverse research portfolio. Amy brings the rich experience of a career in educational policy and research, curriculum and instruction, district reform, professional development, philanthropy, and project management to her leadership role at the Gardner Center. She enjoys working in close partnership with community members across multiple sectors and appreciates the opportunity to address systemic and structural inequities to improve the lives of youth and families. In addition to her role at the Gardner Center, Amy is a founding member of the California Collaborative for District Reform and is the proud mother of two sons. Amy holds a PhD in Education from Stanford University and a BA in Geology-Biology from Brown University.
