Youth Leadership and Community Engagement in the East Palo Alto Arts Community

Since 2010, the Goldman Foundation has entrusted the John W. Gardner Center to facilitate youth leadership activities and community engagement strategies to support the development of an East Palo Alto Youth Arts and Music Center (YAMC). To date, the Gardner Center’s work with the East Palo Alto Youth Action Team, community stakeholders, and organizational partners on the YAMC project has helped to sustain momentum, hone priorities and possibilities for center offerings, expand partnerships, and identify contextual challenges and opportunities related to program and facility development.
