Supporting Sanger Unified School District and Sanger Family Resource Centers to Assess and Improve Family Engagement

In both research and practice, family engagement is considered a strategy for improving student achievement as well as supporting families and schools. Researchers and practitioners have also highlighted the importance of believing that all families, regardless of income level, immigrant status, or other social factors, dream of success for their children and all families have the capacity to support learning.

Sanger Unified School District (SUSD) and the Sanger Family Resource Center (Sanger FRC), a program of Comprehensive Youth Services of Fresno, Inc. (CYS), have partnered to create a new Parent Engagement Multi-Tiered System of Support (PE-MTSS).  Funded by the S.H. Cowell Foundation, this effort aims to build the capacity of parents, families, school staff, and community members to support student achievement.

This mixed-methods study will support the Sanger PE-MTSS by assessing parent/caregiver levels of involvement in family engagement programs and services as well as any gaps in services.
