Lily is working with the Gardner Center and West Contra Costa Unified School District to build a learner-centered district. She is partnering with teachers and administration at Harding Elementary School to help define learner-centered education, and to create a guide for schools in the district to assist with their implementation of learner-centered design.

Before coming to Stanford for her Master of Arts in Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies (POLS) at the Graduate School of Education, Lily ran Study Buddies Connect, a tutoring program for marginalized students in New York City. She matched students with volunteer tutors, and designed curriculum for reading, writing and math remediation. She also taught second grade at a tuition-free private school in New York for several years.
