An Implementation Study of the Early Learning Mathematics Initiative

During the summer of 2013, the Heising-Simons Foundation engaged the Gardner Center to conduct an implementation study of ELMI at two elementary schools in the Redwood City School District. Using a mixed methods approach, the Gardner Center conducted an in-depth examination of ELMI’s program design and implementation and investigated shifts in teachers’ math content knowledge and instructional practices associated with their participation in the initiative.
