Youth Engaged in Leadership and Learning Program (YELL)

YELL was developed in October 2000 in partnership with Kennedy Middle School in Redwood City and in 2001 with McClymonds Educational Complex in West Oakland as a youth development program and approach that builds middle and high school students’ capacity to be socially conscious leaders by:

  • Providing youth research and leadership training.
  • Connecting communities to information on effective youth development practices.
  • Supporting communities to develop meaningful involvement opportunities for and with youth.

The 2nd edition of the Youth Engaged in Leadership and Learning (YELL) curriculum is designed for school, program, and community leaders to support authentic youth participation, promote effective policies and practices to strengthen communities, and support youung people's personal growth.
